The pandemic kept us apart, but now we can bring our communities together again over a common cause. Let’s accomplish something amazing!
What is the Ride for Refuge
This is Christie’s 9th year participating in the Ride for Refuge, taking place Saturday October 1, 2022.
RIDE is a fun-for-all-ages fundraiser that helps big-hearted people show their support for the refugee families we serve by bringing important funds where they are needed most. It’s also a great way to introduce your friends, family, neighbours, and coworkers to a cause near to your heart… and have some fun doing it too.
Participants can either:
- Select the classic 10, 25, or 50 km biking distances,
- Or select the 5 km walk
How to Get Involved?
With a little under three months until the official Ride for Refuge day, we are hoping you’ll consider showing your support this year in one of the following ways:
- Register as a Participant – Join an existing team, pick your activity, and get fundraising- we’d be happy to have you as a member of our Christie staff team!
- Become a Captain – Team Captains are really the heart and soul of the RIDE. They are caring, compassionate, and hard-working people who make things happen. You know these people. They are people like YOU!
Gather a team of your people (friends, family, colleagues, neighbours, church members, etc.), pick a cool team name, and encourage your teammates as they fundraise. Don’t worry, you’ll get support the whole way, starting with these team captain tips and tricks!
- Make a Donation – An easy and straightforward way to be part of RIDE 2022, pick one of the teams supporting Christie and make a donation.
So register today and don’t forget to select Christie Refugee Welcome Centre as the charity you are supporting.
Participating as Multiple Teams? – Consider The Challenge
The RIDE is a way to make a difference by aligning with local charities but it’s also a unique way for your company, church, school, or other community group to reach the wide audience of a national event. You can further increase your audience this year through the new Challenge Category. With options like Business, Clubs, Community, and Faith, you can choose which category suits you best then compare and compete with similar groups from across Canada. You’ll be able to see how you stack up on the National Challenge Scoreboard, where individuals from other teams could discover you.
If you have more than one team, you also have the option to bundle your teams together and establish your own campaign page – a mini-event website page for your group where your vision, message, and campaign results are listed like this. When registering for RIDE, the members of a team must all choose the same charity to support. However, having multiple teams allows you to support multiple of your favourite charities.
Easy to find, easy to track, and fun for building buzz and competition among your community, the Challenge is a great addition this year.
