As the Christmas season approaches our thoughts turn toward home – perhaps a home we’ve made with family and friends or a home we grew up in. Throughout 2022, Christie has received warm support from donors like you that have helped us provide a first home to families who arrive in Canada after having had to flee their homes. As the weather gets colder, we hope you’ll be able to support us in helping refugee families get through their first winter in Canada.
Christie Refugee Welcome Centre is starting to collect donations for the holiday season and there are a variety of ways you can help us.
We’re always happy to receive monetary donations through our website.
Winter coats can be dropped off at the centre (email at volunteer@christiestreetrc.com or message us on Facebook to arrange a time to do this). Alternatively, you can use kits for a cause to donate new winter gear through them.
Gift card donations from retailers like Walmart or any grocery store are always welcome. Contact us to coordinate a time to drop off your donation, or you can use https://christiestreetrc.kindful.com/ and select ‘grocery gift cards’.
We are also looking for basic needs items for the shelter like:
- Diapers (size 4, 5, 6)
- Children’s toys (Especially toys for babies/toddlers and older (12+) children
- Tablets and laptops
- Adult men’s gifts
To arrange a time to drop off any of these donations, email us at volunteer@christiestreetrc.com or message us here on Facebook.
Thank you so much for your generosity and for thinking of Christie during the holiday season.
