The pandemic kept us apart, but now we can come together again for a common cause!
This will be our eighth year participating in the Ride for Refuge, taking place on Saturday October 2, 2021. (And this year, you don’t need to ride or walk . . . you can do whatever you like! See below.)
THE WHAT – RIDE is a fun-for-all-ages fundraiser that helps big-hearted people, churches, and other organizations support local charities that provide refuge and hope to those most vulnerable in Canada. It’s also a great way to introduce your friends, family, neighbours, and coworkers to a cause near to your heart… and have fun doing it.
This year, they are bringing back the RIDE freestyle option! #NoBikeRequired
So, YOU can participate on or by Oct 2nd doing: a bike ride, (10, 25, or 50km), a 5km walk, or select a freestyle fundraising activity and do what you want, where, with whom, and when you want! Swim, dance, hike, bake, sing, knit – the choice is yours. The point is not what you do, it’s who you’re doing it for!
THE WHY – Not only does the Ride for Refuge offer a way to raise funds for the families we support at our shelter and through our outreach services, participating in RIDE is a way you can remind these newcomers that they have neighbours in Canada who care about them.
THE WHO – With 2.5 months until the official Ride for Refuge day, we are hoping you’ll consider showing your support this year in one of the following ways:
- Register as a Participant – Join an existing team, pick your activity, and get fundraising. We’d be happy to have you as a member of our “Christie Staff and Friends” team!
- Register as a Team Captain – Gather a team of your people (friends, family, colleagues, church members, neighbours, etc.), pick a cool team name, and encourage your teammates as they fundraise and do their activities. Don’t worry, you’ll get support the whole way!
- Make a Donation – An easy and straightforward way to be part of RIDE 2021, pick one of the teams supporting Christie and make a donation.
